Your First Driving Lesson

1. App Notification:

The app will notify you when your instructor is on the way and when they arrive at the agreed pick-up location. 

 

2. Instructor Introduction: 

Your instructor will warmly greet you and present their badge for identification, ensuring a safe and secure learning environment. 

 

3. Licence Check: 

If you haven’t already provided a driving licence check code, your instructor will ask to see your provisional driving licence and National Insurance number.

 

4. Eyesight Check: 

A quick eyesight test ensures you meet the minimum legal requirements for driving. 

 

5. Lesson Kickoff:

    For Beginners: If you’re a complete beginner, your lesson will begin with basic introductions to the car and the road. 

    For Experienced Drivers: 

For those with driving experience, the instructor will familiarise you with the car. They will then get you driving so they can observe and understand what skills need developing. They can then tailor the lesson accordingly. 

 

7. Adapted Teaching Style:

During your lessons, your ecoPASS instructor will tailor their teaching to your learning style, and will use a variety of techniques to help you understand and learn as thoroughly as possible. They will also really emphasise the importance of doing as much revision and reflection of things you have learned during the lessons outside of lesson time. It’s very easy to forget important details! You’ll be provided with both feedback and feedforward, ensuring you understand what you’re covering and why. At ecoPASS we want you to be passed as quickly as possible. 

 

8. Skill Mastery and Progression:

Instructors are keen to move you forwards once a skill is mastered. If needed, short breaks may be recommended for safety and productivity, but the priority will always be helping you get the most of out of every lesson. 

 

9. Reflective Log and Future Plans: 

At the lesson’s end, instructors may complete a reflective log with you, making plans for the next lesson and discussing your progress. 

 

10. Flexible Drop Offs and Booking:

Requests to be dropped off at different points, and if the instructor’s diary allows, they’ll accommodate. Booking the next lesson may also happen during your lesson.
